Kayla Geoffrion is living an increasingly rare lifestyle in Seacoast New Hampshire — she’s a teen mom. Geoffrion, 19, of Portsmouth, is part of the dwindling number of teens in New Hampshire experiencing motherhood … She gave birth to her son, Adam, when she was 16 years old and a Portsmouth High School sophomore. Since becoming a mother, Geoffrion has been living in Portsmouth with her parents, pursuing her HiSET(c) [high school equivalency certificate] at the Dover Adult Learning Center and working part time to help support herself and her child.

Samantha Doyon-Wentworth, featured in Seacoast Media Group’s Homeless on the Seacoast series, is a couple of steps closer to securing safe housing, received some good news.
The Somersworth Housing Authority reversed its denial of the subsidized housing application following an informal hearing on the matter last week.
While it will be as long as one to three years before Doyon-Wentworth is expected to receive a unit due to Somersworth’s waiting list, the reversal has added to a recent run of good luck for the single mother.
Doyon-Wentworth, her mother and Tracey Donaldson, Doyon-Wentworth’s Dover Adult Learning Center counselor, appeared before the Somersworth Housing Authority last week as part of an informal appeal hearing.
